ElevenLabs Music songs and instrumental composition

ElevenLabs Music creates songs and instrumentals from a written music brief or a section-by-section composition plan. Use text to describe genre, mood, instruments and musical development, or define global style and ordered sections with their own lyrics, arrangement directions and durations. Text requests can choose instrumental mode and 3–600 seconds; planned sections each use 3–120 seconds and a section-timing control. Select the audio encoding, listen to the complete result and review the started-minute estimate for the intended request.

Use the text path when one written brief can describe the music, its requested length and instrumental choice. Use composition_plan when the song needs explicit sections, global and local style directions, lyrics and section durations. Both paths use the same existing music task and card; open it to prepare the chosen fields and review the full estimate.

ElevenLabs Music Text Description and Composition Plan Inputs

Each request uses either text or composition_plan. Text carries the written brief with optional duration and is_instrumental. A composition plan carries global style arrays and at least one ordered section, each with a name, local style arrays, duration and lyric lines; respect_sections_durations controls adherence to the section timing. Choose the input method around how much of the song structure you have prepared.

Music brief

Create a 30-second instrumental jazz cue for a puzzle scene in a clockmaker's workshop. 104 BPM, lightly swinging 4/4, playful curiosity with a hint of mystery. Use plucked upright bass, brushed drums, muted trumpet and vibraphone, each clearly separated in a warm intimate acoustic mix. Begin with a distinctive four-note vibraphone motif over bass; let muted trumpet answer and develop that motif in the middle, while brush accents subtly increase the momentum. Resolve with a short, clean ensemble cadence and allow the last note to decay naturally. No vocals, choir, spoken words, ticking sound effects or abrupt cutoff.

Creative Use Cases for ElevenLabs Music

Prepare a written music concept or an ordered plan with styles, lyrics and durations. Choose the corresponding input path and audio format, then generate and review the full track. Results can support song demos, narrative scene scores, documentary music, arrangement studies, bilingual song concepts and music-creation features in applications.

Section-led song demos

Prepare the global sound and an ordered introduction, verse, chorus and ending with their lyrics and durations. Listen to the generated song for section transitions, vocal delivery and arrangement before developing the composition further.

Narrative scene scores

Describe the setting, emotional arc, instruments and desired motif in a text brief. Choose instrumental mode and duration, then compare musical development and the ending with the intended story scene.

Documentary atmosphere

Prepare a natural scene and describe how instrumentation should enter and recede. Generate an instrumental track and listen for dynamics, space and a suitable ending alongside the planned footage.

Arrangement studies

Write how a motif passes between instruments or assign different styles to planned sections. Review the resulting texture, transitions and balance to explore an arrangement direction for a larger piece.

Bilingual song concepts

Place original lyrics in their intended language within the relevant sections and describe vocal diction and arrangement. Listen to both language sections for delivery and musical continuity while developing a song prototype.

Music creation in an application

Collect a text brief or complete composition plan and output preset, then submit the documented request. Track the returned task ID, retrieve finished audio and let the application play or save it with the creation settings.

ElevenLabs Music Specifications and API Pricing

ElevenLabs Music uses the current rate per started minute. For text, the estimate uses the requested duration, defaulting to 60 seconds. For a composition plan, it sums the section durations, then rounds the total up to a whole minute. A thirty-second request uses one billed minute; a request just over sixty seconds uses two. The dynamic table shows the current unit rate. Configure the complete duration or plan in the task to review the full estimate before submitting.
